NY horse breeder charged with cruelty

NEW YORK -- The Humane Society of Greater Rochester arrested the owner of Rodney Farms, a horse-breeding business in Scottsville, for animal cruelty.

Barbara Galbraith, 64, is charged with failure to provide sustenance to her horses.

On Thursday, September 5, officials seized five emaciated horses and brought them to Lollypop Farm, where they will receive full medical attention.

Investigators say they have followed Galbraith closely and have been working with her over the past year to reduce the number of horses she owns. On one visit, it was discovered that the horses did not have access to drinking water.

Galbraith will appear in Wheatland Town Court on September 16th to answer to the charges. She faces up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
