NEW HAMPSHIRE -- The owner of an abandoned dog with medical issues has been located and charged with cruelty to animals among other charges, according to the Hudson Police Department.
Last week, the Animal Control Division asked the public to help identify the owners of an abandoned Great Dane.
With the help of many callers, Michelle Hogan, 44, of 85 Barbara Lane, Hudson, N.H., was located and charged with cruelty to animals, rabies vaccination required, and dog license required.
Hogan turned herself in and was released on $2,000 bail. She is scheduled to appear in 9th Circuit Nashua District Court on Sept. 19.
She reported the black and white female dog as being abandoned at Dunk N' Dogs, located on Lowell Road in Hudson. Sammie, a 2-year-old Great Dane, is now receiving the necessary medical care.
Animal Control Officer Jana McMillan said she wants to thank all those that called to offer assistance.
A fund has been created by America's Pets, 142 Lowell Road, Hudson, N.H., to help with Sammie's medical expenses. Donations are being accepted from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily by calling America's Pets at 603-881-9247. Donations collected will be paid directly to the treating veterinarian.
