AUSTRALIA -- A pet owner has been charged with animal cruelty offences after his dog was found bound and burnt to death in Sydney's south-west.
The 37-year-old man will appear in court on Monday after he was arrested at his home in Cartwright on Sunday.
Police were called to the home on Willan Drive about 7.45pm on Sunday after neighbours found the body of the Jack Russell terrier.
Police allege the dead dog had been bound and burnt.
The dog's owner was arrested at the home and taken to Green Valley Police Station where he was charged with torturing, beating and causing the death of an animal.
He was remanded to appear in Liverpool Local Court on Monday.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said no further details about the dog's death were available.
