COLORADO -- A dog stranded for nearly a month in Clear Creek Canyon was rescued Thursday.
A Clear Creek County Animal Control officer had to wade across Clear Creek to get to the Chow. Animal control said she's about 15 pounds underweight but otherwise in good health.
The chow was originally spotted Oct. 5 on the shoreline of Clear Creek, but she had no access across.
She was again spotted on other occasions the past couple of weeks. Someone had even put up a Craigslist post asking for help rescuing the dog.
She presumably survived on what she could find to eat in the wild.
The dog has no microchip or other ID, and is being checked out by a vet. She'll be on a five day stray hold. If no one claims her, she'll be spayed and put up for adoption.
Right now she's being held at the Clear Creek County Animal Shelter in Dumont.
It's not known how the dog got stranded.
