Three W.Va. brothers plead guilty to animal cruelty

WEST VIRGINIA -- Three brothers in Harrison County have been barred from owning animals for five years after pleading guilty to cruelty charges.

Lindsey R. Siglinger, Clifford J. Siglinger and Anthony R. Siglinger also must each pay a $300 fine.

The brothers were accused of not properly caring for more than 30 dogs at their home in Gypsy. They entered their pleas last week in Harrison County Magistrate Court.

County humane officer Lt. Greg Scolapio tells The Exponent Telegram that officers investigating a complaint found 20 dogs in the yard and 14 in a half basement and crawl space.

Scolapio says a majority of the dogs had to be euthanized because of health and age issues, lack of human contact and temperament.
