Canada: Necropsy completed in fatal pit bull stabbing

CANADA -- SPCA investigators have forwarded their report into the fatal stabbing of a pit bull on Kitsilano Beach to Crown prosecutors.

A necropsy completed several weeks earlier showed the dog had been stabbed three times, once fatally in the heart.

According to police and the SPCA, its owners encountered a man with an off-leash pug during a waterfront stroll late last month.

The larger dog attacked the pug on the neck, a bite that required stitches, and the elderly owner of the smaller dog retaliated with a folding knife.

The pit bull owners, in a statement on Facebook, said the attack was vicious and their dog was stabbed up to 10 times.

The necropsy, however, only found three wounds.

“We’ll find out soon whether they (prosecutors) intend to lay any charges,” SPCA spokeswoman Lorie Chortyk said Wednesday.

“I know that there were two (cuts), they wouldn’t have been in any way fatal. There was one wound that went straight to the heart.”

    RETALIATED? that's pretty loaded.

i guess we know where this newspaper stands on the issue of ugly gripping dogs.

  2. And if the elderly owner of the pug had not been able to protect his dog there'd be a dead pug and no story. It warms my heart that people are fighting back against the mauling breeds. I hope there are no charges against the pugs owner.
