TEXAS -- One woman is dead and another is in serious condition after being mauled by dogs in southeast Houston, police said.
According to the Houston Police Department, two dogs were running around a neighborhood around 2 a.m. when they attacked three people walking near the Dylan's Crossing Condominiums.
The two women and a man were attacked near the 8200 block of Leonora near Glen Prairie, police said.
One of the women died at the scene of the mauling, while the other was transported to Ben Taub Hospital in serious condition, police said. The male victim was treated at the scene and not transported.
Houston Animal Control responded and caught one of the dogs, police said.
HPD spoke to a man identified by witnesses as the dog owner. However, when officers returned to his apartment, the alleged owner had fled and the second dog was missing, presumed to be with the owner.
