TEXAS -- The Ector County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a dog was taken from its owner. The people who took the dog say they had to rescue this dog because it looked like it was dying.
Sara Couch says she saw a sick dog lying in the alley after neighbors called her and brought the Boxer to Angel Veterinary hospital to be treated.
"When she saw water it looked like she'd never seen it before," says Couch.
"We were treating her and trying to keep her away from other dogs," says the son-in-law of the owner’s family, Hector Jimenez.
Family members who say they own the dog tell us they didn’t want to put the dog down because it was their daughters. They say they were giving it medicine, which says to limit the dog’s food intake. Jimenez says the dog was eating, but not gaining weight.
The family called the sheriff's office and filed a report that two of their dogs were stolen. They say they will be pressing charges on the person who took them.
The dog is being treated at the veterinarian hospital.
