Old cat loves Home Depot, will live there forever

SOUTH CAROLINA -- Depot, an elderly cat, has been prowling the aisles of a Bluffton, South Carolina, Home Depot for 13 years, and thanks to the concern of employees and customers, she will continue to do so for the rest of her days.

Having a resident cat sounds like an awesome job perk, but Depot's presence became less magical when her late-night cat activities started tripping the security alarms.

Management felt they had no choice but to evict Depot, but because of her advanced age, shelter life was nearly out of the question. Concerned customers and employees made a case for the cat, and a regular patron even started a Change.org petition on Depot's behalf.

It's easy to see both sides -- sure, keeping a cat who has adopted your store as her forever home warms the cockles, but also: She's a cat.

Luckily, Home Depot stepped with an executive decision: The cat can stay.

"Unless someone can provide her a better home, she can stay," a Home Depot spokesperson told the Charlotte Observer.

Still, management has said they will continue to keep an eye on Depot, and may have to find a "healthier, safer environment" for her as she continues to age.

If that time comes, it probably won't be hard -- since Depot's story was made public, offers to adopt the cat have come from as far as Germany.
