NEW JERSEY -- Two American bulldogs attacked a neighborhood man and his dog Saturday morning in the Wanamassa section of the township, according to police.
The attack happened about 8:30 a.m. on Grassmere Avenue, Police Detective Lt. Kevin Faller wrote in an email to the Asbury Park Press.
The man who was attacked allegedly suffered a bite on his thumb for trying to protect his own dog. His dog sustained a torn ear, Faller said.
The man — who was not identified — refused medical treatment and said he would take his dog to the vet, according to police.
Police issued a summons to the bulldogs’ owners — whose identities were not released — for allowing dogs to run loose.
