OHIO -- A Brecksville woman, 65, came to the police station at 2:06 p.m. Feb. 19 after she was bitten by a dog while making a floral deliver to a Deer Creek Drive home.
The woman said after making the delivery, the German shepherd lunged and bit her twice, as well as grabbed her pant leg and wouldn't let go. The homeowner, 62, got the dog off the woman, who was shaken.
Later the woman was upset the man didn't apologize for his dog's actions. She was also worried that such an incident could happen again. It turned out the man's wife did go to the floral store to apologize for the dog's actions and offer to pay any medical bills. The police said the woman wasn't injured.
Still, the victim wanted police to talk to the homeowner to make sure this didn't happen again. An officer went to the home where he saw the five-year-old dog. The officer said he was able to pet the animal and it didn't show any signs of aggression.
[Oh, ok. So the dog allowed this guy to "pet" it without trying to kill him... so that means the dog's not vicious? Whatever.]
However, the officer did notice the animal wasn't wearing a collar, which may have kept the homeowner from grabbing the dog before the incident.
Because there weren't any prior calls to the home regarding the dog, the officer didn't feel as though a citation for a dangerous or vicious dog was needed.
