South Africa: Pit bull allegedly attacks five people, including a security guard

SOUTH AFRICA -- Pandemonium broke out at the entrance of Evergreen Primary School in Havenside after a pit bull mix allegedly left its owner’s yard and attacked five people, including the security guard of the school.

An early morning walk to school almost turned tragic for school pupils of Evergreen Primary when a black pit bull allegedly ran from its yard onto the road and bit five people.

The black pit bull on the right is the one which
attacked everyone.

Fortunately, the school children were saved in the nick of time when Mzanzi Security personnel blocked the entrance of the school gate and prevented the vicious dog from attacking pupils.

Principal of the school, Mr G Simanathan who was on the scene, said he was happy that no child from his school was bitten by the dog, however, he was saddened that the school’s security guard, ‘Wonder Boy,’ and passers-by were savagely attacked.

Simanathan said Wonder Boy is in a stable condition and is receiving medical attention.

Paramedics, members of the SAP and a local security company were outside the school in minutes. The SPCA was called in as well.

A passerby who witnessed the incident said that the dog which left its yard looked vicious and started barking. The pit bull then apparently began attacking people randomly.

“I personally think that the SPCA should put the dog down because someone could have lost their life. Parents who left their children at school were also in shock,” the resident said.
