Pit bulls which had previously attacked a 13 year-old boy moves on to kill elderly woman in her own yard

TEXAS -- An 83-year-old woman has died almost two weeks after being mauled by a neighbor's dogs as while feeding her cats in her backyard.

The Bexar County medical examiner's office said Petra Aguirre died Friday from complications after being attacked by Perla Rojas', 34, (aka Perla Rojas-Ibarra) pit bulls. She was attacked March 31.

Animal Care Services spokeswoman Lisa Norwood says the dog got past Aguirre's fence.

Aguirre had bites to her head, neck, arms and legs.

The American Staffordshire terrier mix was surrendered to Animal Care Services and euthanized.

The dog's owner, Perla Rojas-Ibarra (aka Perla Rojas) was cited for the attack.

That dog and two others were involved in an attack in May when a 13-year-old boy was bitten.

Chris Aguirre tells the San Antonio Express-News that his mother, a devout Catholic, taught religious education at St. Gabriel's parish for many years.

  1. I cannot even stand to see this one. She lived so long and was such a wonderful person. ONly to be violently killed by a dog KNOWN to attack humans.
Whomever let that dog live after it bit the 13yr old needs to be jailed too.
