California dogs rescued from 134-degree parked car

CALIFORNIA -- Authorities say two small dogs are recovering after being rescued from a parked car that registered an interior temperature of 134 degrees.

The Riverside Press Enterprise reports a sheriff’s deputy smashed the windows of the car outside the county courthouse in Indio on Monday.

Animal control spokesman John Welsh tells the newspaper the terriers were examined and their temperatures were found to be normal. He says the pair is doing fine.

Welsh says the dogs’ owner will be ticketed.

Simba is a female with a white, fluffy coat. Scar is a male with a shorter, curly black coat. Both are being held at Coachella Valley Animal Campus, 72050 Petland Place, Thousand Palms. The shelter may be reached at 760-343-3644.

The adoption fee is $105 each, which includes spay-neuter surgeries, vaccinations and microchips, Welsh said.
