FLORIDA -- A server was bitten by a pit bull in front of a crowd of people eating at Outback Steakhouse Saturday night. It happened off of Mitchell Hammock Road and Alafaya Trail.
Oviedo police said the female server was working in the outdoor dining area of the restaurant when the dog bit her on the arm.
Only Local 6 caught emergency crews responding to the restaurant. Christopher Rodriquez was eating when it happened.
“You hear all the sirens, all the commotion outside, I saw tons of cops,” said Rodriguez. “Everyone was asking what was going on.”
Oviedo police said that a woman was sitting in the outside dining area with her pit bull when a waitress approached to give the dog water in a bowl and she was bitten.
“It was chilling on the ground when I came in. He seemed pretty docile, but I didn't approach it or anything,” said Shelly Welch.
Welch, a customer, said the pit bull was brown and weighed at least 50 pounds and said she didn't think it was a service dog.
“It was a decent size dog. I would have been a little terrified if it came at me.”
Police said the server suffered a flesh wound but some customers said if it happened to them they'd think twice about coming back.
“I think I would I would be traumatized to go back to a restaurant ,especially if dogs were there.”
Oviedo police said the dog is still with the owner and that the owner is cooperating. They said Seminole County Animal Control will take the dog and put it under quarantine sometime Sunday.
