Florida: Cody Tompkins, 20, and Dylan Sizemore, 16, attacked animal control officer after she picked up their two dogs

FLORIDA -- Two people were arrested last week after allegedly firing a shotgun and attacking an animal control vehicle in an attempt to free two dogs, a news release from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office said.

No one was injured when Cody Aaron Tompkins, 20, and Dylan Edward Sizemore, 16, reportedly became aggressive toward an animal control officer who responded to a report of two loose dogs on Hamilton Lane on Friday, the release said.

The officer had captured the roaming dogs and placed them in a county truck when Tompkins and Sizemore reportedly approached and began screaming, cursing and demanding that the animals be released, according to the release.

Tompkins and Sizemore allegedly began to pull on the vehicle doors, trying to gain access to the vehicle, the release said. They also threw rocks and sticks at the truck in order to open the rear where the dogs were contained.

Allegedly, Thompkins retrieved a 12 gauge shotgun from a home and fired two shots, according to the release. Sizemore reportedly then used a baseball bat to beat the back of the vehicle, while Thompkins jumped up and down on the back bumper.

The animal control officer left the area safely and made contact with arriving Sheriff’s deputies who placed Tompkins and Sizemore under arrest.

Both individuals were transported to Santa Rosa County Jail and charged with aggravated assault, firing a weapon in public and obstructing an officer without violence.
