KENTUCKY -- A Louisville man is facing a charge of cruelty to animals after a dog was found in his yard without food, water or shelter.
An arrest warrant says an officer was conducting a separate investigation in the 100 block of Dr. W. J. Hodge on June 12 when she saw a female mastiff with its ribs and hip bones protruding. The officer said day was hot, but there was no food, water or shelter for the dog in sight.
A short time later, a woman arrived at the home and said the dog belonged to her son, William J. Stocking, 33.
The mastiff and another dog found in the back yard were confiscated. Police are trying to determine the ownership of the second dog.
Stocking was arrested on June 19 on the warrant. He is also being held for possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence and an outstanding bench warrant.
