Riverbank Husky Dog Dies From Injuries

ARKANSAS -- "River" the husky found washed ashore an Arkansas Riverbank has died early Saturday morning.

Rita Cavenaugh with Maumelle Animal Services says River had a seizure and veterinarians were unable to save him.

Cavenaugh says they are investigating this as an animal cruelty and neglect case.

River was found pale, with deep lacerations, tar on his ear and muzzle and had parasites on Wednesday.

"You can tell from his nails, they're really long and not worn down, so I think he's probably been tied up, because you've got a tied look here," says Rita Cavenaugh on Wednesday.

Maumelle Animal Services is asking for your help on any information you can provide, by calling 501-851-6219

You may have seen the story last night about the dog that is getting a second chance at life after washing up on the banks of the Arkansas River bank in Maumelle.

Today, "River" the husky is in guarded condition, so he's still not out of the woods yet.

The veterinarian removed 15 pounds of clay and mud from his intestines.

He's not showing as much improvement as they would like, but he's hanging in there and ate this morning.

Today, someone brought him a package of lavender to keep him relaxed.

The Maumelle Animal Services has no tips at this time.

If you have any information or would like to help River, call 501-851-6219.
