NEW JERSEY -- A woman was injured Thursday afternoon when she was attacked by an aggressive dog, authorities said Friday.
The incident happened at around noon on Warren Street, near Cooper Street, according Richard Wolbert, the city's administrator and public safety director.
The woman’s identity was not released. Wolbert described her as the girlfriend of the dog’s owner. Her condition was not available Friday.
Wolbert said the dog acted aggressively toward responding police officers, but he declined to comment on how the incident was resolved or if the dog was shot. He said an investigation into the incident was ongoing and additional information would be released once it concludes.
No officers were injured in the incident.
The dog is alive and being held at the Burlington County Animal Shelter in Westampton, Wolbert said.
