Butte "service dog" takes bite out of police car

[A real service dog would not have done this.]

MONTANA -- A service dog didn't like being kept in the backseat of a Butte patrol car Tuesday morning and showed its contempt by chewing up the interior.

Police transported a woman and her service dog to St. James HealthCare after the woman experienced a medical emergency while in the parking lot of Walmart just after midnight.

Officers left the woman's dog in the back of the patrol car while she was being treated, and the dog chewed the car's seats, ceiling and the door of the vehicle.

The dog's owner was able to coax the dog out of the police car. Police said they will not pursue charges.
