Dogs savagely attack boy, 10, in Wollongong suburb

AUSTRALIA -- The 10-year-old was reportedly attacked by a German shepherd and an American Staffordshire terrier in the fenced front yard of a Bellambi home at 2pm.

He suffered puncture wounds to his head, legs, arms, hips, stomach and buttocks.

Paramedics rushed him to Wollongong Hospital before he was flown to the Westmead Children’s Hospital in a serious condition.

He underwent surgery last night and was in stable condition.

The dogs have not been seized but Wollongong Council has been notified, a police spokeswoman said last night.

Residents in Waley Ave told the Telegraph the boy was believed to have been looking for his brother with a friend when he walked into the property.

A woman said the boy was with her son and was door knocking other houses on the street when his friend was attacked.

The woman said her son remained on the footpath during the attack.
