Muskogee County DA wants to file charges after dog attack

OKLAHOMA -- There are new details surrounding an attack by two pit bulls on a Muskogee man.

The Muskogee County District Attorney wants to file criminal charges against the dog’s owners. He will also try to seek restitution for the victim’s family for medical expenses and lost wages.

District Attorney Larry Moore told FOX23 he asked Muskogee police not to issue citations against the owners of the two pit bulls who attacked Glen Boulet just feet away from his home on Monday night.

Instead, he would like to file formal criminal charges against the owners of the dogs because of the “severity of the injuries in this case.”

“Citizens should be free from worry and concern when it comes to being attacked by vicious animals, especially when they are around their homes,” Moore said.

“We kept telling them those dogs were trying to bite people. Lock them up. Keep in the house. Put a chain on them. They wouldn’t listen to us and they could’ve avoided this type of stuff,” said Boulet’s wife, Deborah Lolles Boulet.

Deborah said she is relieved that justice appears to be coming for her husband, but her family is still bracing for a long legal process and a long road to recovery. Her husband remains in critical condition and will require multiple surgeries.

“He’s a good man. He helped me with my mother. He helped us with our first grandbaby. He helps everyone around the neighborhood with food,” Deborah Lolles Boulet said.
