FLORIDA -- A Perry man is charged with animal cruelty after dragging his two dogs behind his vehicle.
Emory Jenkins was arrested and transported to the Taylor County Jail after someone called in about the incident. Officers say Jenkins tied the leashes of his chocolate Labrador and tan Collie to his car and drove for several miles.
Jenkins told officers that he was taking the dogs for a run. The leash he used was about three feet long. Jenkins says he did not tie a longer leash to the dogs because he did not want them to get run over by another vehicle.
One of the dogs is in stable condition and the other in fair condition.
