Pet Owner, Dog Day Care Owner Blame Each Other For Dog’s Medical Condition

PENNSYLVANIA -- A pet owner and the owner of a dog day care blame each other for the medical condition of a dog left at the day care for five days.

“He’s about to die,” Travis Johnson, the dog’s owner, said. “They have him in critical care. We have to pay $6,000 to keep him alive.”

Johnson, a disabled veteran, says he left his dog, Captain, at Doglogic Doggie Daycare and that Captain was abused while at the day care. He added that the dog had a temperature, lost 18 pounds and had a bloody paw.

Owner James Benton claims he didn’t do anything wrong “I can’t say we saw any blood from his mouth, or we would have taken him over to our vet.”

Captain was wearing a shock collar that Johnson owns, and Johnson said it had been turned to the highest level.

“We don’t shock dogs at all, especially dogs with separation anxiety,” James Benton, owner of the day care, said. “It just makes them worse.”

That’s where both men are in agreement. Captain does have separation anxiety and managed to chew the walls in the room where he was housed and damaged the door.

Benton says, “the only thing I did wrong, was I didn’t call the guy.”

Johnson says his dog Captain was in the process of being trained to become an assistance dog.

We are waiting to hear if humane officers will get involved with this case.
