Teacher recovering from vicious mauling by friend's Mastiffs

TENNESSEE -- An Eastside teacher came home Friday, a week and several surgeries after being attacked by her friend’s dogs as she visited at her home.

The teacher, Vera Kuhn, was airlifted from Friendship Church, located a short way from where the attack happened just off Copenhaver Road.

According to family members of the victim, Ms. Kuhn underwent a couple of surgeries and skin grafts to repair damage caused by the multiple bites inflicted by the pair of Mastiffs.

Lawmen who responded to the scene said the pair of French Mastiffs had already been put up by their owner, with one weighing in at 160 pounds and the smaller at 140 pounds. What prompted the attack by the family’s dogs has not been revealed.

“She had multiple bite injuries all over her body,” recalled Deputy Jason Satterwhite who responded to the scene of the attack. “It’s the worst dog bite incident I’ve ever seen.”

Given the victim is friends with the dog owners and was at their house for a visit, it is doubtful there will be any legal action taken unless health officials intervene.

Warren County Animal Control did not respond to requests for an official report on the incident.
