Why do people order stuff which requires delivery if they have vicious dogs running around?

MISSISSIPPI -- Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson says that around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday a UPS worker Ken Finney  made a delivery on County Road 1820.

"And while he's there on their property, he is attacked by two, the possibility of three different dogs," said Johnson.

We showed the house where the pit bull attack allegedly took place according to neighbors on County Road 1820

None of those neighbor would go on camera; however, they did warn our crew to stay away from the house as there could possibly be more pit bulls on the property.

Two of the pit bulls involved are being observed for rabies at the Tupelo-Lee Humane Society.

A third animal was not found following the attack.

The sheriff says the dogs' owner has been cited for not having them vaccinated and that's the best law enforcement can do under the law of Lee County.

"As far as the dog attacking the UPS driver, there was no violation as far as our county ordinance is concerned. The only violation we have here is not being able to prove that these dogs were vaccinated," Johnson said.

The sheriff says the owner has up to five days to have the animals vaccinated or they could possibly be put down.

Sheriff Johnson says Lee County does not have a leash law.

And Johnson says that an animal that attacks on its owner's property is also deemed not dangerous under the ordinance.

According to the Sheriff, Finney was injured from head to toe, but he has been treated and released from the hospital.

The sheriff said that the UPS worker has the right to take a civil action against the owner.

But Sheriff Johnson says his department has done all that it can do as far as criminal action.
