NORTH CAROLINA -- A Gaston County officer shot and killed a pit bull in Charlotte Wednesday morning.
Police went to a home of Rock River Church Road in Mecklenburg County around 11:15 to speak with a person regarding an ongoing investigation.
Detectives say the unsecured dog approached them aggressively. A detective, who has not been named, fired at the dog.
The Gaston County Police Department is investigating to ensure all procedures were properly followed. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is also investigating but CMPD officers were not present during the incident.
