Midwest City man, Corey Harrison, turns self in on animal cruelty, bonds out

OKLAHOMA -- A man wanted on two counts of animal cruelty in Midwest City turned himself in to Oklahoma County authorities only to bond back out shortly after he arrived.

Corey Harrison is accused of animal cruelty after authorities said they found two pit bulls abandoned and emaciated in an apartment. One of those pit bulls died on Monday.

On Tuesday, authorities issued an arrest warrant for the 27-year-old. Wednesday morning, he walked into Oklahoma County and turned himself in.

According to the jail, he did what's called a "walk-through". He walked into the jail to turn himself in and immediately bonded out.

Midwest City police were called to Willow Creek Apartments on July 11 by the apartment manager who said a maintenance man had found the dogs in Harrison's old apartment.

According to police, Harrison moved out after a neighboring unit caught fire and power was cut his residence.

Police said the animals were found nearly a month later and were severely emaciated. They were taken to a local vet and put in the intensive care unit.

On Monday, the younger of the two dogs had to be euthanized due to his injuries.

The other dog is alive and is in the care of a foster family through The Bella Foundation.
