The sheriff's office issued a warning to the public Monday after the animal's owner reported it wasn't in its pen when she went to check on it. The owner also reported several other animals she owned had been killed.
The dog-wolf hybrid posed a potential danger to people and to other animals in the vicinity, according to the sheriff. It is believed this is the same animal that had escaped once before and attempted to bite a person Feb. 25.
That incident, which was reported to authorities, resulted in the canine/wolf mix being quarantined at the Baxter County Animal Shelter for ten days and citations being issued to the owner.
It remains unclear this morning whether the owner will face any new citations from the wolf-hybrid's second escape Monday.
