Elderly woman and her beloved Doxie attacked in pit bull home invasion

OKLAHOMA -- A dachshund is in the ICU, after being attacked by a pit bull. We’ve learned the dog’s owner, an 88-year-old woman, was bitten as well.

FOX23 was at Ann Wagner’s house Monday night, right after a pit bull jumped through her glass window, attacked her dachshund Beau and bit her on the foot.

She is still in shock.

“I had hold of this wild animal that was tearing my dog apart. I was pulling on it trying to budge it and it wouldn’t even release,” Wagner

“She said my dog is dead. I said what are you talking about and she said this dog came through my window and attacked beau and shook him like a rag doll,” Wagner’s daughter Evie Lindberg said.

Beau was rushed to the vet and underwent three surgeries. He has a lot of trauma to his neck and is having a hard time breathing, but he’ll survive. The vet told us he’s lucky.

“It’s her heart. She carries that dog around. She makes a bed for it. I mean, it’s everything about Beau,” Lindberg said.

“Beau has been my true companion for many years,” Wagner said.

Even though Beau will be OK, Wagner says the outcome of this situation isn’t right.

Tulsa police found the pit bull and its owners a few houses down. Police issued them a citation, but the dog is still in the backyard.

“What’s to say if he ever gets out again, whoever the next person would be would be even worse,” Lindberg said.

“We need to do something to control more dangerous animals” Wagner said.

FOX23 reached out to the pit bull’s owner to ask some questions about how the dog got out and why they didn’t check on Wagner and Beau after the attack. But the owner said she didn’t speak much English.

She did confirm that police gave her a ticket and that she owns two pit bulls. Both are in her backyard.

Beau’s medical bills are racking up well over $4,000 so far. If you’d like to help out with his bills, you may contact Lindberg at elindberg@oru.edu.

[Why doesn't the pit bull owner pay the bill? Why doesn't the Lexus Project takes some of the millions of dollars it raises to save vicious dogs and pay this bill? Or all the pit bull defenders who raise money to save some pit bull that's in the pound for attacking and killing people and pets? Why don't they raise money for the victims??]
