Hotel housekeeper attacked by pit bull

COLORADO --  Police say a housekeeper was attacked by a pit bull after entering an unattended room at a hotel Sunday afternoon.

Ramona Smith-Tucker, who works at the La Quinta Inn at 7077 S. Clinton St., had knocked on the hotel door to clean at 2 p.m.

When nobody answered, she went inside. She told police that a pit bull immediately began attacking her.

She says the owner of the dog came running from the elevator when he heard her being attacked.

"I jumped up on my [housekeeping] cart, and I flipped my cart over," Smith-Tucker said.

She was taken to the hospital and received at least eight stitches.

Sgt. Steve Nelson with Greenwood Village PD says the dog is a pit bull and was quarantined while the investigation continues.

Pit bulls are allowed in Greenwood Village and are allowed at the hotel.
