Man caught on video killing his in-laws' little Dachshund

FLORIDA -- A disturbing act of animal cruelty was caught on tape according to the Sarasota Sheriff's Office.

They arrested 24-year-old Stacy Glover on four felony counts of aggravated cruelty to an animal and one felony county of tampering with evidence after they viewed home surveillance video.

Glover's estranged wife lives at the Nokomis home with her family on Cutting Horse Trail. On August 8, Glover was asked by his in-laws to watch their miniature 12-pound Dachshund named Athena.

Video allegedly shows Glover beating the small dog with his hands.

They say he made up a story that the dog was missing and must have run away.

The little dog ran around and around the fenced backyard trying to get
away from him. Here, she runs towards the camera.
Right after, she goes out of view, he comes running after her.

In the video, the dog is seen running away trying to escape capture by Glover.  The video shows him allegedly beating the dog and then taking it inside the home by the scruff of the dog's neck.

Later the video shows Glover leaving the home with the small dog in his hands, not moving and lifeless.  Deputies believe the direction Glover headed away from the house would have no purpose other than to dispose of the dog.

Deputies contacted a veterinarian who believes the video shows the injuries inflicted were serious enough the dog could have been severely injured if not killed.

Later, Glover returns to the home empty handed.  The dog's remains have not been located.

Glover obtained an attorney after he was confronted with information on the video and turned himself in without making a statement.

Glover is currently being held in the Sarasota County Jail under a $50,000 bond.
