The five year old horse was named by Michelle Hird who has been caring for this precious baby at her horse rescue in Rockport for the past 39 days. Her story is the worst case of animal abuse Hird has ever encountered.
"They removed her genitals, they cut out the exterior part of her female parts," said Hird.
We have to blur out the wound. Yannaha was found in a Gregory field on August 23rd. She had been laying there for two weeks with the horrible open wound. Finally, a nighbor noticed.
The San Patricio County Sheriff's Office was notified and they began investigating this as a case of animal cruelty. Michelle was contacted and she took the horse. For six hours everyday, she cleans her wounds.
Vet bills have reached thousands. A wound in yannaha's leg could jeopardize her recovery. Hopes and prayers are high.
The San Pat County Sheriff says they have submitted evidence to the DA's office in hopes of filing charges against the person they say is responsible for this horrible act of animal cruelty.
