Daleville Woman Arrested on Animal Cruelty Charges

ALABAMA -- Lakevia Nicole Shider, DOB: 8/12/80, was arrested by the Daleville Police Department on five outstanding warrants on charges of cruelty to animals.

Daleville Police Officers entered Shider’s residence at 145 Lakeview Avenue in Daleville on September 30, 2014 when the realtor was making a check on the residence.

Prior to that nearby residents were complaining of constant dog barking. When officers entered the home, they found two pit bulls on the balcony that was covered with feces. Those dogs had contaminated water and feces contaminating the food present.

In one of the bedrooms, three other dogs were locked inside. A Yorkie, Jack Russell and a poodle who had severely matted hair. The carpeted bedroom was covered with feces and vomit with no food and very little water.

The dogs were seized and placed in an animal shelter pending contact with Ms. Shider.

Shider was booked in the Dale County Jail on $3,750.00 bond /$750. Per dog.

Shider also faces city ordinance violations for failure to have the rabies shots for the dogs.

Shider has bonded out from the Daleville City Jail pending her trial on the matter.
