TEXAS -- On Sunday, a severely neglected dog was discovered in a filthy, urine-filled crate which had been dumped across the street from the Harris County Animal Control in the parking lot of Melrose Park in Houston, Texas.
The skeletal dog, dubbed "Sampson," was immediately rushed to Abbott's Animal Hospital for treatment.
Sampson, who is believed to be a four-year-old Shar pei mix, weighs a mere 26 pounds and he is severely dehydrated; when he was first brought in to the animal hospital, his body temperature registered at just 92.1 degrees.
Melrose Park Neglected Dogs went to Facebook on Sunday to inform their followers of the heartbreaking situation, and a plea for funds to help Sampson survive the horrible neglect was also made.
Anyone who is hoping to lend Sampson a hand can phone Abbott's Animal Hospital directly at 281-893-5000 (mention Melrose Park Neglected Dogs and Sampson), or via this fundraising site.
