NEW JERSEY -- On Saturday, October 4, Patrol Officer Jason Ferreira responded to the Lake Hiawatha Swim Club on a report of dogs left in a vehicle.
Upon his arrival, with assistance from Patrol Sergeant Matthew LaManna and Officers Armenti and Anderson, a blue Jeep with a trailer attached to it was located in the parking lot.
There were 4 dogs inside the vehicle and 11 dogs in makeshift cages inside the trailer.
The investigation resulted in locating the vehicle’s owner, a 72 year old man from Orange, who allegedly lives out of his vehicle.
Animal Control Officer Heidi Mooney of the Parsippany-Troy Hills Animal Control Unit responded to the scene and took control of the incident. A Deputy Chief of the ASPCA was also contacted.
Any inquires should be directed to the New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
