Places you had to wear at least a respirators and in some cases O2 tanks, double hearing protections and hazmat suits, but none of that ever prepared me for what I was about to see and encounter in this woman's house in New Sharon, ME.
Now Melanie went to the livestock auctions every once in a while to fun and entertainment as anyone who has ever been to some of them will tell you, but this one time she met a lady at one who was bidding on some animals who looked out of the ordinary even for that kind of place. Carol Murphy!
They got to talking and Melanie right away thought there might be something not quite right about the woman and after talking to her asked some of the other people she knew what they knew about her, and right away a red flag was waved, something was not quite right with this woman! To say the least! Well the people said she was a little strange, and if you have ever been to a livestock auction you might say, "You could say that about anyone who goes to them."
But after talking to a few more people a few weeks later and then to her again she found that she lived just a few miles away from us and the people who knew of her that she was somewhat eccentric, She only bought animals and never sold any, not that out of the ordinary in itself but the amounts were, lots and lots of animals of every kind.
Of this poor dead calf, he writes "yet one more animal that had died and been left to decompose in her yard" |
Well they got to talking again and the woman said to Melanie that her brand new washing machine had broken and wasn't working. when asked why she didn't call the place she bought if from to come fix it she said no one has ever been in my house and never will be!
So Melanie said I could fix anything and would be happy to take a look at it, NOT I don't know much about washing machines and even less about the one she had, one of the newer at the time super efficient used very little water or electricity.
But being who I am and always willing to help out someone in need I said OK I'll go look at it, little did I know that Melanie just wanted to get inside her home and see what was going on inside.
Oh ya she had a pony die and it had been in the doorway into the barn from the house and couldn't get it moved so a neighbor could take it out back and dig a hole for it. well I had a winch on the front of my work van and said again OK lets go.
When we first got there we hooked the winch up with some pulleys and winched the dead pony out in front of the barn So the neighbor with the tractor could drag it out back to burry it, she said, but she covered it up with snow after we got it out. then we got to go into the house, again she said "no one has ever been in my house !"
What I saw inside the kitchen of the house turned my stomach and I have a pretty strong one. There were a couple of calves in the kitchen just walking around as well as a pig or 2, A couple of ducks, one with no feet walking around on the stubs, 3 or 4 ducks, and more !
Well I said I needed to go have a cigarette, she didn't allow smoking in her home, I just needed some fresh air. then went back in and tipped the washer over only to find pig sh!t all under the washer to the point of it had clogged up the belts and motor, cleaned that all out and flipped it back over and off the washer went, working like new, well as new as a washer covered in Sh!t could anyway.
He writes "Something that had died in on outside pen, obviously a while ago" |
Well that was in 2004 and she had been convicted of animal cruelty and told by the court that she could never have animals again for life. but it seems she has been keeping it up to the point of Tazing a state trooper a few years after this. Did some time and is back out and at it again
