UNITED KINGDOM --A MOTHER says she is astonished a Bull Mastiff she claims mauled her 5-year-old daughter has not been seized.
Amy Rees says daughter Connie needed 25 stitches to the side of her head and was kept in hospital overnight.
The alleged attack happened six weeks ago and mum-of-two Mrs Rees said the dog responsible is still with its owner.
She said Connie was playing with her brother and cousins, when the animal pinned her down and had to be pulled off.
Mrs Rees from Llansamlet, a petrol station cashier, said: "It felt like it was all happening in slow motion. I thought the dog was on a lead, but as I turned my head I could see it on top of my daughter. She is only tiny.
"It punctured her ear - tore it open. The dog was growling while it was on her, it was an odd, nasty noise. My husband screamed at the dog's owner, and we had to kick the dog off.
"We were pulling it off by the collar, and my daughter was covered in blood on the side of her face.
"She had to have a general anaesthetic and stay in hospital overnight, and have intravenous antibiotics for 24 hours."
The incident happened on September 20.
Mum Amy added: "The dog's owner says Connie must have hurt herself when the dog jumped on her and she fell over. We just want to find out if any action is going to be taken against the dog."
And a spokesman for South Wales Police said: "The matter has been fully investigated and a decision is awaited on whether a prosecution is to take place."
