TENNESSEE - A welfare check on three Cocke County dogs revealed they were not well at all.
Investigators showed up to Joshua Ramsey's home in Del Rio Wednesday afternoon and found two very skinny dogs chained up without any water. A third dog had died. They said it was so skinny, its bones were showing.
Deputies took the surviving dogs to the Dr. Carol Hood Memorial Animal Shelter in Newport, where they're recovering.
"Right now the shelter is offering them a nice, dry, clean warm place to stay. They're getting plenty of food and water. They're getting some extra attention, and they're awaiting the care from the vet," said Brandy Hensley, the shelter's director.
Deputies charged Ramsey with three counts of animal cruelty. He told them he'd checked on the dogs two days before investigators arrived.
