CONNECTICUT -- In November, we told you about a Cocker Spaniel who was neglected and abandoned, left outside the Connecticut Humane Society overnight. That dog, named Pilgrim by animal control officers, now has a new home in Cromwell.
Pilgrim also has a new name, Darby. On its Facebook page, Waterford-East Lyme Animal Control says Darby has a kind, patient new owner with a fenced-in yard for him to run around in. They say Darby’s new owner tries to play fetch, but Darby isn’t sure what to do with the ball.
Animal control officer Robert Yuchniuk said it was the worst case of neglect he had ever seen, the dog found completely matted down with more than just piles of unkempt fur.
