Neighbor helps save woman from dog attack

COLORADO -- A woman walking her dog in Security-Widefield had to get stitches on Sunday after two dogs attacked her in her neighborhood on Kiva Road, according to Gazette news partner KKTV.

The woman was walking her dog on Sunday afternoon when two pit bulls ran up from behind her and attacked, KKTV reported. A neighbor heard her screams and came out of his home to help chase the dogs away. The man, identified only as Jerrel, turns 77 on Christmas day.

"I ran out the door and out the gate to try to help her out, and I didn't have nothing but my hands and feet, so my feet went to work," Jerrel said.

The dogs were taken to the El Paso County Humane Society, and the their owner was cited for unlawful ownership of a dangerous dog, KKTV reported.
