Police officer pleads guilty to animal cruelty

GEORGIA -- Americus police officer William Lamb has been sentenced to 12 months probation after he plead guilty to a misdemeanor count of cruelty to animals.

Lamb was originally charged with felony cruelty to animals for shooting an American Pit Bull owned by his neighbor Joseph Wynn.


In addition to probation, Lamb has had his POST certification suspended and also has to pay restitution in the amount of $2,200.

Lamb was a K-9 officer with the Americus Police Department at the time of the incident.

He resigned from the department two weeks ago.
