TEXAS -- There is a very happy ending for two French bulldogs who went missing. They are now back with their family. But there are still a lot of questions about what happened and why a FedEx driver took the dogs and loaded them into his delivery truck.
"Hip hip hooray!" said little Savannah Correa, holding up one of her puppy's paws. She was giving three cheers for an adorable reunion, as the Correa family cuddled up again with their two best friends, Sheila and Bruno.
"We're just so happy, we feel like our family's complete again, really, because we couldn't go another night without these two," said owner, and Savannah's dad, Armanda Correa.
The French bulldog pups were taken Wednesday afternoon when they went out to use the bathroom, right outside the family's home in east Harris County. The Correas' home surveillance cameras caught the whole thing.
Savannah gave KHOU 11 News a break-down, saying, "The grown-up just put them inside the truck, both of them."
That grown-up was a FedEx Ground contract employee. In the video, you can see him pick up the dogs and put them into a FedEx delivery truck.
"To me he's a monster. My kids were here, if they would have seen him, how would my children have reacted?" said owner Erica Correa.
Seeing the dogs again on Thursday night, their reaction was just joy, and Sheila and Bruno are lucky pups. Someone found them Wednesday night wandering through the streets and brought them to the Kirkwood Veterinary Clinic on Thursday. Folks there recognized the dogs from news reports.
"And so we called and said we think we have the dogs here," said veterinarian Dr. John Gregory.
Doc says they're doing just fine now.
Meanwhile the Harris County Sheriff's Office is investigating what happened, while FedEx Ground tells us it: "Takes this matter very seriously and is working closely with authorities investigating this matter."
But as they loaded everyone safely into the car Thursday night, the Correa family was just grateful to be back together, and planning to stay that way.
"Pretty sure we're all going to sleep in the same bed tonight," said Armando Correa.
