NEW MEXICO -- Gallup police say a man found dead in a field may have been killed by a pack of dogs.
The Gallup Independent reports that a passer-by discovered the body Friday morning near a fast-food restaurant located on U.S. 491.
Police Capt. Rick White says animal-control workers had been recently trying to catch 10 dogs in the area and that the man have been mauled by a dog pack Thursday night.
The man was not carrying identification. He’s described as a Native American in his mid-40s and approximately 6 feet tall. He was wearing a black baseball cap and red-framed sunglasses were found near his body.
The state Office of the Medical Investigator on Monday did not immediately respond to a request for information on the death.
