OREGON -- A $900,000 lawsuit has been filed on behalf of a 10-year-old boy mauled by a dog in the boy’s foster home in Gresham. The Oregonian says the suit is against the Oregon Department of Human Services and Catholic Community Services of Western Washington.
The foster home also serves as a rescue for Doberman Pinschers.
The suit claims the agencies should have known kids placed in the home could be in danger. It says the foster parent herself, Lillian Yun, has been bitten by the animals numerous times. It also says the boy’s counselor told her supervisors at Catholic Community Services she was concerned about the placement.
The child suffered permanent facial scarring that required hospitalization, according to the complaint. The dog bites are said to have caused emotional injury, trauma, nightmares and sleeping problems.
