Matthew Taylor, 26, of Lexington, is charged with cruelty to animals.

On Jan. 27, Animal Control responded to 5505 South N.C. 150 in reference to a dog possibly dead.
When Animal Control arrived, they found an emaciated 5-year-old boxer/pit bull mix who was having seizures.
The owner stated he could not afford to take the dog to a vet and surrendered it to authorities.
The dog was taken to the Davidson Animal Hospital, but it was soon euthanized.
It was determined the dog had suffered from starvation.
Taylor was confined in the Davidson County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond.
