MARYLAND -- Anne Arundel County, MD Animal Control is trying to figure out who left four dogs in a cage on the side of a road.
On Tuesday February 3, animal control received a call from a citizen who noticed a crate on the side of Cananaro Drive in Annapolis with several dogs/puppies inside.
The caller was unable to provide an exact location on the road so an animal control officer did a patrol in search of the crate. The officer searched the road but was unable to find a crate or any dogs/puppies.
The following day, an animal control officer discovered the post on Facebook about the "found" puppies. The animal control officer recognized the dogs from previous experiences with the canines owner. Animal control reached out to the finder, who apparently found the crate full of dogs/puppies the night prior and brought them home to keep them warm and safe.
The citizen brought the 4 dogs to the Anne Arundel County Animal Control. The canines are Morrigan (an approximately 4 year old Pug/Beagle mix), Cassandra (an approximately 3 year old Terrier mix), Lil Steve (approximately 3 month old Terrier mix) and Lil Nate (3 month old Pug/Beagle mix). These dogs/puppies are currently under protective custody due to ongoing investigation however Animal Control is taking names for potential adopters.
Both puppies already have potential adopters lined up, Anne Arundel County Animal Control is still taking names, in person, from parties interested in the two adult dogs. Anne Arundel County Animal Control continues to investigate and are considering charges for animal abandonment, failure to provide adequate space and failure to provide proper protection from the weather.
