CALIFORNIA -- A Tulare County man was booked on charges on animal cruelty and assault on a peace officer Monday morning in Earlimart, the county Sheriff’s Department reported.
The incident took place about 10 a.m. in the 600 block of South Front Street. A sheriff’s spokesperson said deputies responded to a report that a man was beating a dog.
When they arrived, they found the dog was dead and had been speared with several metal poles.
Angel Navarro, 27, was under the influence and fought with deputies, the spokesperson said. He was booked into the Tulare County jail.
