OHIO -- An Ashtabula couple, who appeared together Wednesday in Municipal Court to face animal cruelty charges, pleaded guilty.
Kaine Fowler and Melissa M. Candela waived their right to an attorney and acknowledged “it was a big mistake” to post a video on the Internet last week of the pair balling up two cats and tossing them back and forth in front of two children.
On the recommendation of City Solicitor Michael Franklin, visiting Judge Larry Allen ordered a presentence investigation.
Police removed the cats from the home last week after receiving multiple tips about the video, which had been posted to Fowler’s Facebook page. The video has since been taken down.
