Owners of pit bull that viciously mauled boy refuse to give it up because they feel 'bullied'

MINNESOTA -- The owners of a pit bull dog that viciously attacked a three-year-old boy in a Minnesota suburb have sparked outrage after they refused to give up the dog.

The suburban couple say they feel as though they are getting 'bullied' over the dog attack which left a little boy needing 22 stitches.

But they have erected a fence and put up a 'Beware of dog' sign since the attack in August, and say the pit bull has not hurt anyone else.

However, the family of the young boy who was left scarred by the dog bites said that the dog should go as there are many other kids living in the neighborhood.

Chris Loney, the boy's father, described the attack which occurred at a summer block party in Prior Lake.

He told MyFoxTwinCities.com: '[My son] is by my side the whole time, within about a foot and I turn about 45 degrees to throw some paper plates in the trash, and I heard this 'ruff ruff.' The dog just came out of nowhere.'

The attack left Chase Loney, with over 22 stitches on his face. The family reported the incident to police, but no charges have been filed.

Meanwhile, the Loney's said that they while have received a $1,000 insurance claim from their neighbors to help with medical costs, they still plan to file a lawsuit.

The little boy's mom, Chandra Loney, said: 'We gave our neighbors the option [to] pay the medical bills and get rid of the dog, and we'll leave it alone. And they chose to keep the dog.'
